About us
Welcome to our movement
Youth Lead Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that empowers young voices with leadership skills, training and engagement opportunities.
Youth Lead Alliance works collaboratively (not competitively) to empower youth and young adults with much needed leadership skills, training, social-emotional supports, social engagement opportunities and workforce development from organizations in Greater Cincinnati that work, directly or indirectly, by supporting youth in Cincinnati. We have three divisions: Hear Us Now, Database service & Collaboratives.
Currently, we have a staff of one full-time director, a part-time administrative assistant, a website developer and a dedicated volunteer team of 5-10 workers.
HOW WE STARTED:
We’ve partnered with over 30 youth serving orgs to share resources and educate students in addition to our Master Calendar of Events for youth to promote events and programming across Cincinnati. From October 2019-March 2020 Youth Lead Alliance held monthly partner meetings in collaboration with Interact for Health and we signed up 33 youth serving organizations that we called partners. We even had current Juvenile Court Justices as partners who wanted to learn from and engage with youth. We held 3 in person Think Tanks for students with an average attendance of 10-15, Each of our partner organizations self categorized under Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and provided ‘workshops’ based on their specialties along with one youth from their organization for our Youth Executive Team. After each partner meeting at Interact for Health, partners were sent a survey to measure satisfaction and gain awareness on how to improve. Our satisfaction rating was always a 3 or better (out of 5) and we took every suggestion and made adjustments. Youth Lead Alliance partnered with Beyond Housing of St. Louis and the city of Cincinnati in a Youth Voice Census Competition where students aged 13-19 could create a video about the census and post on Social Media and gain likes. We awarded $1000 in prizes to 4 Cincinnati youth and introduced Cincinnati and St. Louis youth to each other and understanding of the Census. In our redesign since the pandemic, we intend to collaborate with 350+ youth serving organizations introducing over 2000 young people to each other and organizations and programming designed to support them and their social emotional learning.
